Because we are a 100% foster-based rescue, creating and nurturing a solid foster network is vital to our mission. As part of our team, you can expect open communication, proper training, support, and understanding. FFNR will provide and/or cover all necessary veterinary care and supplies needed for each specific foster case.
As an FFNR foster, you will have opportunities to foster multiple types of cases, including:
Bottle baby kittens
Mom & kittens
Weaned kittens
Singleton kittens
Other small animals
Time commitments & responsibilities
Fostering for FFNR does require a bit of your time and we like to be up front about that. Since your foster animal(s) will be staying in your care until they are adopted, case length can range anywhere from a couple of days to a few months. We try our best to be flexible and work with your schedule when needed. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have a vacation coming up or are no longer able to keep your foster case in your home for any reason.
FFNR does not have a physical location where potential adopters can meet with animals. Because of this, fosters are required to host meet and greets at their house. This can be done according to your schedule and what works best for you and the adopter.
Transportation commitments include transporting your foster animal(s) to and from Precision Veterinary in Madison for their spay/neuter surgery and travel to the Co-Executive Director's house in Janesville for animal pick-up, supply pick-up/drop-off, or administration of certain medications and vaccines if you are not comfortable doing so yourself.
